About Us
These Chambers were first established in 1972 by a group of seven barristers - mainly members of the then Midland & Oxford Circuit – and we have grown steadily until today we are nearly fifty strong with three silks. We provide expertise in most areas of the Common Law and, while we still maintain strong links with the now Midland Circuit and the Thames Valley Area, we currently appear in courts and tribunals in London and on a nationwide basis as well as undertaking both Appellate and Judicial Review work on a referral basis.

Over the years we have developed groups of specialist Advocates of all levels of experience who work together in teams (Civil, Crime, Immigration & Public Law and Family) to provide advisory and advocacy services in a wide variety of Common Law fields at all levels of seniority. This means that we can provide not only a wide breadth of experience but also the highest level of service in all of the fields in which we practise.
Our highly experienced clerking team will advise all potential clients on the suitability and availability of Counsel and will ensure that instructions are dealt with by a Barrister with the relevant speciality or experience.
Members of Chambers also regularly give seminars in their specialist fields and we are recognised by the Law Society for the provision of accredited seminars for continuing education as well as having been one of the first sets of Chambers in the country to receive the “Quality Mark” for the Bar.
At 4 KBW, we pride ourselves on being a highly professional, yet approachable set of Chambers. We are fully committed to being responsive to the needs of both our professional and our lay clients and we therefore place great emphasis on high standards of advocacy and the provision of clear and concise advice as well as processing all paperwork both swiftly and efficiently. Situated at the heart of the Inner Temple, 4 KBW houses comfortable and spacious conference rooms with video viewing facilities although we are always equally happy to travel to solicitors' offices. We also provide Ground floor conference rooms with disabled access which are available on request.
Chambers is also equipped with modern computer facilities which are available to the Bar which is networked throughout Chambers allowing for the most efficient level of electronic communication currently available. All of our Clerks and Barristers are therefore able to access the Chambers diary, case records and e-mail direct from their desks and hence ensure the prompt delivery of completed instructions back to our professional clients at the earliest reasonable opportunity. As a result, all documents are available to clients in hard copy, e-mail or disc form on request
We see ourselves as a set of Chambers which continues to maintain the best traditions of the truly “Independent Bar” while fully embracing the age of technological innovation and “diversity”. We therefore believe that we offer a package of both sustained excellence and wide expertise to all of our clients from whatever background they may come and with whatever problems they may face.
