Anne-Marie Critchley

Areas of Practice

I am currently employed full time as a Senior Lecturer teaching the BPTC at the University of Law, Bloomsbury, London.   I teach criminal evidence and procedure, advocacy and professional ethics.  I am accredited by the Advocacy Training Council to teach advocacy and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

When in practice, I undertake all types of criminal work and additionally a small amount of Mental Health and Prison Law work.

Prosecution Experience

Some Crown Court prosecution before taking up the teaching position.  Now CPS panel Grade 1.  Extensive Magistrates’ Court experience.

Defence Experience

I have conducted all types of hearings in the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court, both led and alone.  I have also successfully appealed against sentence in the Court of Appeal.  Clients have included juveniles, the mentally vulnerable and those charged with sexual offences.
