Practice Profile

After obtaining a first class degree in law from Durham University and upon completing a twelve month pupillage at 4 King’s Bench Walk in 2001-2002, Justyn accepted an offer of tenancy in October 2002.

During his first five years in chambers, Justyn accepted instructions in all aspects of criminal and civil work, gaining extensive advocacy and advisory experience in cases ranging from straightforward road traffic small claims to complex multi-handed criminal trials.

Justyn’s practice is now principally civil based, with an emphasis on personal injury litigation. He acts for both Claimants and Defendants in Fast-Track and Multi-Track litigation and has considerable experience in areas including employers’ liability, road traffic and Fatal Accident Act claims. Justyn also appears in the Coroner’s Court and Administrative Court.

In addition to personal injury work, Justyn accepts instructions in all aspects of civil litigation including commercial matters, landlord and tenant and general common law. In appropriate cases, he is happy to accept instructions on a Conditional Fee Agreement basis.

Outside work, Justyn is a keen climber, both indoors and out. He also enjoys skiing, golf and good food and wine.  Justyn considers himself something of a car-buff and takes any opportunity to enjoy all things automotive.

  • R v. Garratty x4
    Junior counsel (led by Kim Preston) instructed by CPS Headquarters in relation to a family 'factory' producing thousands of indecent pornographic videos and distributing them in South London. Following a successful prosecution, I acted in Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings involving approximately £1million.
  • R v. Hierons and Others
    Successfully defended Mr. Hierons at Southend Crown Court in a six day, three-handed racially aggravated public order matter.
  • R v. Audi, Nassif and Others
    Junior counsel (again led by Kim Preston) in £250,000 cash card 'skimming' operation by four named defendants. Following guilty pleas from three, we successfully convicted the final defendant. I dealt with the lengthy sentencing hearing for all four defendants without a leader. Instructed by CPS Headquarters.
  • Beckett v. CPS
    Acted for Crown in the Divisional Court in relation to the appellant's conviction for drink-driving. The Appellant argued that he had been stopped unlawfully. Successfully argued the contrary position and conviction upheld.
  • White v. CPS Confiscation Unit
    Represented the applicant in Administrative Court proceedings following £25,000 confiscation ruling in the Crown Court
