Practice Profile

I regularly act on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service (London and the Thames Valley) and the Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office. In 2002 I was appointed to the Attorney General’s list of Prosecuting Advocates and was re-appointed in 2006 (B panel).

I specialise in fraud cases and I frequently prosecute and defend in large multi handed fraud prosecutions, with and without leading Counsel, in the London and other criminal courts.

I have also defended in a number of significant sex prosecutions, in particular cases of historic abuse, violence and public order matters in the Thames Valley. I am currently instructed as Junior Counsel in a significant cigarette diversion fraud.

Case Profile

R. v. Shamba and 8 Others:

Successful 2005 prosecution of Operation Solution at Southwark Crown Court involving large scale postal theft. Subject of a BBC documentary, to be broadcast in 2006.

R. v. H. Humphries:

Defending an allegation of murder at Oxford Crown Court.

R. v. Ayankoya and 4 Others:

Successful 2006 prosecution of Operation Ides at Southwark Crown Court involving hijacking of 37 identities and extensive benefit fraud.

R. v. Neil Kynock and 8 others:

Defended in a 2007 prosecution of alleged money laundering following an initial bank fraud of £1.5 million from the central clearing banks.

R v Frost and 9 Others:

Appeared as junior Prosecution Counsel for Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office in a trial from April – June 2007 in relation to the importation of 12 million counterfeit cigarettes.

R v Eccles and Leece (2008)

Junior Counsel in significant heroin and cocaine importation case.

R v Brown and others (2008)

Defence trial counsel in Oxford Cr Ct involving allegations of kidnap and sec 18 GBH

R v Michael Elliot (2008):

Defence Counsel at Southwark Crown Court in case involving significant breaches of CITES legislation (commercial importation and exportation of hippo, elephant and whale ivory).
