Jyoti welcomes instructions in all areas of practice including crime, human rights & immigration, family, personal injury and general civil.


Immigration Law

Jyoti has appeared before the First-Tier Tribunal in both asylum and human rights appeals. She has been successful in securing bail for immigration detainees by making arguments in respect of length of time in detention, imminence of removal and medical and mental health issues.

Criminal Law

Jyoti’s criminal practice involves regular appearances in the Magistrates’, Youth and Crown courts on behalf of clients charged with violent, sexual and financial offences. Jyoti also regularly defends in road traffic matters including special reasons and exceptional hardship hearings.

Family Law

Jyoti accepts instructions in all private and public family proceedings. She regularly appears in private law children cases and has experience acting for clients with mental health vulnerabilities. Jyoti has handled cases involving domestic violence, issues with mental capacity and prohibited steps orders.

Education Law

Jyoti sits as a Clerk to the Panel in school admission appeals and school exclusion appeals.

Personal Injury

Jyoti receives instructions in personal injury cases on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants. Jyoti advises on quantum, liability, causation and drafts pleadings. She often acts in road traffic cases and cases involving credit hire. She has made successful applications to strike out, for relief from sanctions and for costs arising from the unreasonable conduct of the other side.

Property & General Civil

Jyoti has experience appearing in landlord and tenant disputes in the County Court in cases involving rent arrears and possession. She has acted for Claimants and Defendants in contractual disputes, debt recovery claims and enforcement. Jyoti has also acted in insolvency and bankruptcy matters. She also undertakes drafting and advisory work.

Jyoti studied English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford before going on to study law at City University, London. Jyoti was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 2016 as a Lord Denning Scholar, Levitt Scholar and Hardwicke Entrance Award winner.

Jyoti worked as a volunteer for a number of charities including the National Centre for Domestic Violence and she continues to work as a workshop facilitator for the Schools’ Consent Project.
