Launchpad Reading

Team 4KBW will be running in the Reading half marathon on 1st April 2012.

We are running for a charity called Launchpad Reading, which provides supported housing to disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Reading.  We appreciate that you may get many requests to dig deep but we’d be delighted if you’d support us and our chosen charity.

Areas of Practice

Kemi specialises in all aspects of family law and Children Act matters with an emphasis on care proceedings. She is regularly instructed in complex public law cases, representing both local authorities and parents and is experienced in conducting cases involving non-accidental injury, sexual and other forms of abuse, serious neglect and mental health issues.

Her practice also includes all aspects of divorce including ancillary relief, judicial separation, co-habitation issues, domestic abuse, Child Abduction, the Hague Convention, the Family Law Act 1996 as amended and the drafting of pre-nuptial and separation agreements.

Kemi is also an experienced Immigration and Nationality law practitioner, who has practiced in this field since 1995.

Kemi also undertakes family and immigration matters under the Bars public access scheme.

Kemi sits as an Immigration Funding Review Adjudicator.

  • Care
  • Kemi recently successfully represented a local authority in an extremely long and complicated care case concerning a number of children involving allegations and findings regarding sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect. She was led by leading Counsel and three other silks represented the other parties. The final hearing lasted a total of 9 weeks.
  • Child Abduction
  • Kemi recently represented a father and succeeding in stopping the child’s mother, who had breached a number of previous court orders, from removing the child from the jurisdiction in order to avoid the father having contact with the child.
  • Contact
  • Kemi has acted for a number of parents, who have secured substantial contact with their children following protracted proceedings and in the face of implacable hostility from the opposing parent.  
  • Immigration
  • Kemi successfully represented an Appellant in the Court of Appeal and secured his release from detention pursuant to an application for a writ of habeas corpus. This was heavily contested by the Respondent, who was represented by leading Counsel.
  • Kemi has represented Appellants in two recent high profile Country Guidance cases involving well-known country expert witnesses. This involved a detailed and meticulous analysis of the substantial previous case law and objective evidence.
