Areas of Practice

Crime:

Philippe's criminal experience encompasses both prosecution and defence work. He has appeared in the Crown Court, Magistrates' Court and Youth Court and dealt with a range of offences. Philippe accepts publicly funded and private instructions.

Asylum and Immigration:

Philippe's asylum work has included representing Zimbabwean, Eritrean and Congolese nationals in appeals before the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, both at first instance and at reconsideration. His general immigration work includes representing appellants in Points Based System (PBS) appeals, a subject on which he has lectured. Philippe has conducted judicial review proceedings relating to fresh claims and unlawful removal. Philippe is happy to accept publicly funded instructions.

Civil:

Philippe has represented claimants in fast track trials and disposals. Much of his work has related to personal injury, but he has experience of dealing with small claims and other matters.

Previous experience

Prior to coming to the bar Philippe worked as an in-house advocate for a leading firm of immigration solicitors, where he gained considerable experience of appearing in the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal and related matters. Philippe has also completed a six-month internship with the UNHCR.
