Areas of Practice

My common law practice covers crime and general civil.

Prosecution Experience

I have prosecuted a range of offences in both the adult and youth magistrates’ courts including a variety of assaults, harassment, public order, drugs, dishonesty, road traffic and firearms offences. I regularly appear for the CPS and Probation Service in the Crown Court and have prosecuted at trial various offences, including section 18 GBH. I have also prosecuted trials under the Environmental Protection Act and Chiropractors Act.

Defence Experience

My defence practice covers both the Magistrates and Crown Court and both publicly funded and private clients. I have successfully defended at trial numerous clients across the breadth of the criminal law and have successfully undertaken appeals to the Crown Court. I have experience at dealing with matters under the Proceeds of Crime Act, offences of outraging public decency and representing clients at Parole Board hearings. I frequently receive instructions on road traffic cases.

Civil Law Experience

I receive instructions across a range of civil law, including personal injury, credit hire, insolvency, contract, social security and landlord and tenant. I appear across the range of tracks in the County Court and provide advices across a range of areas.

Interests

I maintain a keen interest in music. I play the guitar and attend live performances whenever possible. Though we may have fallen on hard times I still avidly follow Leeds United. I also enjoy playing 5 a-side football with other members Chambers. I have an interest in Latin American history and culture, cemented by a year’s volunteer work there in 2004-05, and continue to read Spanish literature to maintain my language skills.
