Another acquittal success for Gavin Holme

Following a 5 day trial at Reading Crown Court Gavin Holme secured an acquittal for a defendant charged with assisting an offender. This flowed from a murder trial in 2024 where the defendant’s son, represented by Kate Bex K.C. leading Gavin, was acquitted of murder. The Crown’s case was the defendant had driven his son away from the family home in an effort to avoid arrest. The case was complicated by the fact that the defendant had unknowingly recorded telephone conversations on his phone. On one of the earlier recordings the defendant discussed trying to clean a jacket owned by his son, having been told by him that he had been involved in a stabbing earlier in the day. The case preparation included careful analysis of several hours of telephone recordings, in order to provide the jury with the proper context for the defendant’s actions.
