Daniella Adeluwoye represented a defendant at Aylesbury Crown Court for sentence in relation to a serious fraud offence. The fraudulent activity was conducted over some months against a vulnerable victim, resulting in a Power of Attorney being appointed to manage the victim’s finances.
The Crown took the view that a period of imprisonment was the only way to meet the justice of the case while Probation commented that the court may consider immediate custody merited given the serious nature of the offence.
Nevertheless, in oral submissions, Daniella persuaded the Judge that the correct approach was to allow her client to be rehabilitated in the community. The Judge agreed and imposed a suspended sentence.
