Jenny has secured wide-ranging findings of domestic abuse against a police sergeant who has been dismissed as a result of this gross misconduct.
These findings of abuse were made following a fiercely contested trial over 7 days. The trial concerned multiple examples of domestic abuse over a number of years, including strangulation, emotional and verbal abuse, and coercive control. The Officer denied any form of misconduct and maintained that the allegations were purely malicious in nature and had made by his ex-partner to destroy his reputation.
After careful examination of seven witnesses, as well as reference to numerous other statements and recordings, Jenny successfully secured findings by the Panel that all allegations pursued by the Appropriate Authority were proven. The Panel agreed with Jenny's submissions that the Officer's conduct was extremely serious and concluded that the only appropriate outcome was dismissal without notice.
The proceedings have been reported in local press:

Jenny has also recently enjoyed success in the Police Appeals Tribunal. Former PC Berwick appealed against the findings of dishonesty made against him following a trial in which Jenny was also instructed. On appeal, the appellant sought to argue that the Panel had failed in their duty to apply the correct legal test and to provide adequate reasons when reaching their findings of dishonesty. After lengthy written and oral submissions, the Tribunal dismissed the Former Officer's appeal.
