More success for Clare Evans in a trial alleging coercive and controlling behaviour against her client's partner during their 9 year relationship, stalking against his ex-partner once she had moved out, and then 2 allegations of rape that allegedly took place during the period of the stalking.
Clare was faced with 42,335 messages between the parties over 8343 pages of served evidence. Having been refused a junior twice, she had to go through the messages herself in order to extract a court ordered maximum of 20 pages worth of messages between the prosecution and defence. The days Clare spent going through these messages far exceeded the 5 days the trial took.
Meticulous consideration and collation of this evidence meant Clare was able to refute the allegations the complainant was making through carefully targeted cross examination. Hard work, even when it isn't remunerated properly, pays off and Clare's client was unanimously acquitted of all counts in under 3 hours.
Clare appeared at Reading Crown Court having been instructed by Karla Sims at Albins Solicitors.
