Success for Alex Maunders at the First Tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber)

On the 26 January 2024 at the First Tier Tribunal (Health, Education and Social Care Chamber), Alex Maunders, instructed by Polly Kerr of Tees Law, successfully represented an Appellant in an appeal relating to their Education, Health, and Care plan. During his submissions Alex had to rebuff strong arguments from the Respondent to exclude late evidence filed by the Appellant and an attempt from them to have the appeal adjourned. The Appellant had complex needs that their original plans failed to address. Alex, working with Polly and a strong team of experts, presented clear and forceful arguments for amending the plan. The Tribunal was convinced and updated the plan to reflect most of the points put forward by Alex. The placement was amended under s.9 of the Education Act 1996 so the school named was in line with the wish of the parent.
