Brian was first admitted as a Legal Practitioner in New South Wales, Australia in 2004. After a short period practising in Australia, Brian was called to the Bar of England & Wales by The Middle Temple in 2007.
Brian commenced as a third six pupil at 4KBW in 2009 and became a tenant in 2010. Brian was at 4KBW between 2009 and 2012, practising primarily in criminal law. During his time in Chambers, Brian regularly prosecuted Crown Court trials for Reading CPS, including a trial of an outlaw motorcycle gang member for significant drug supply, section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent offences, and an appearance in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) on an affray matter. Brian was also briefed in significant defence matters, including s.20 grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and an alleged fraud involving the Henry Ford family estate.
In 2012 Brian left Chambers to ride a motorcycle from London to Sydney, travelling through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, East Timor and Australia from Darwin to Sydney.
After he arrived back in Australia, Brian practised as a State Prosecutor in Western Australia between 2012 and 2015. During his time in Western Australia Brian prosecuted serious criminal cases, including appearing as junior counsel in two of the highest profile murder matters that ran in the State during that period, the ‘Rottnest Island Head on the Beach’ murder committed by Aaron Carlino, and the New Year’s Eve ‘Wedge Island stabbing’ murder committed by Joseph Houston.
From 2015 to present Brian has been practising as a Crown Prosecutor in Newcastle, New South Wales. Brian now regularly prosecutes Supreme Court murder trials as well as high profile District Court matters. Examples include: Jamie Sager, who made the UK papers after destroying a house with a very large bulldozer he had stolen from a nearby coal plant; and the Lightning Ridge opal mining murder committed by local “Amigo’s Castle” tourist attraction owner Vittorio Stefanato.
