Phoebe’s practice encompasses all areas of family law, including private and public law children’s proceedings, financial remedies and domestic abuse injunctions. She accepts both privately funded and legally aided instructions and is experienced in urgent applications and short-notice hearings. Phoebe is also an IMI Qualified Mediator.
Phoebe completed pupillage at a specialist family set, where she gained extensive experience representing and advising vulnerable clients. She is known for her practical advice, thorough preparation and approachable manner when representing clients navigating difficult circumstances.
Prior to pupillage, Phoebe worked as a paralegal at a well-established London law firm specialising in family law. She assisted on a broad range of matters, including public and private children proceedings, divorce and financial remedy cases and Hague Convention proceedings.
During this time, she assisted on the case of Re A (A Child) (Recognition of Cases Nigerian Adoption: Common Law Test) [2024] EWHC 2888 (Fam), a significant High Court decision concerning the recognition of a Nigerian adoption. This experience gave her insight into complex cross-border family disputes and the recognition of foreign orders and adoptions.
Family Private Law
Phoebe regularly represents parents in private law children disputes, including applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders and Specific Issue Orders.
She has experience in complex and sensitive proceedings involving allegations of domestic abuse, including coercive and controlling behaviour, sexual abuse and harm to children. She has experience conducting cross-examination of vulnerable witnesses and in cases where a Children's Guardian has been appointed.
Her practice also includes cases involving internal relocation and enforcement applications.
Domestic Abuse and Inunctions
Phoebe is regularly instructed in applications under the Family Law Act 1996, including Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders. She has experience of urgent, without notice applications and is accustomed to dealing with cases involving serious allegations of domestic abuse and issues relating to occupation of the family home.
Family Public Law
Phoebe acts for parents throughout all stages of public law proceedings, including contested final hearings. She has experience representing vulnerable clients and those who require additional support in giving instructions.
Her practice includes proceedings involving special guardianship, adoption and applications for secure accommodation and deprivation of liberty orders.
During pupillage, she gained experience of complex fact-finding hearings involving allegations of non-accidental injury, sexual abuse and parental alienation.
Phoebe has also acted for the Metropolitan Police in applications for the disclosure of family proceedings into criminal proceedings.
Family Financial Remedies
Phoebe represents clients across all stages of financial remedy proceedings, including applications pursuant to TOLATA 1996 and Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. She is experienced in representing clients where the opposing party is a litigant in person and is known for her pragmatic and measured approach to resolving financial disputes.
