Introduction
Rachael accepts instructions in all of Chambers’ practice areas.
Rachael was admitted as a solicitor in Australia in 2014. She practised in civil law at leading law firms in Canberra, before moving to London and being called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2023.
Rachael holds a combined Arts (History) and Law degree from the University of Sydney and was awarded the George Arnold Wood Prize for First in History. Rachael also holds a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with Merit and a Master of Laws degree from the Australian National University.
From 2023 to 2025 Rachael practised in a mid-size commercial law firm in London in a range of contentious matters, including:
- settling a claim worth approximately £8 million made by investors alleging mismanagement of a property investment scheme, including negotiating for a freezing order obtained against her clients to be lifted;
- defending individuals sued by liquidators alleging breaches of companies law in relation to covid-19 loans; and
- defending an individual against a claim made by HMRC alleging tax avoidance and imposing penalties.
Crime
Rachael regularly appears in the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court in first appearances, case management hearings, PTPHs, trials, appeals and sentences. Rachael has defended in sexual offences, terrorism offences, assaults, public order offences, drug offences and driving offences. She has experience acting for children charged with crimes.
Civil
Rachael has appeared in various personal injury matters. She regularly acts in the County Court in road traffic accidents, small claims and fast track matters. Rachael has successfully argued to have a complex property claim dismissed and marked as totally without merit. She also has experience drafting pleadings in TLATA matters.
Family
Rachael gained experience in a wide range of family work during her pupillage in both financial remedy proceedings and care proceedings, and has appeared at First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointments.
Public Law
Rachael has appeared in the High Court for the police force in a civil application. She has also clerked school admissions appeal panels and provided pro bono advice in an education law matter.
Interests
Rachael is a keen reader and enjoys multi-day hiking, when she gets the chance.
