Public Law
The public law team at 4KBW comprises dedicated and experienced barristers who are able to provide high quality advice and representation, often at short notice, in all areas of public and administrative law as well as in related areas such as environmental, planning, regulatory, the Court of Protection, discrimination law, and inquests.
Public and administrative law regulates the relationships between the state and its citizens, and the decision-making of state bodies, including government departments and local government, the NHS and the police, prisons, state regulators and other bodies that exercise public functions.

We have barristers at all levels of seniority and, in addition, all of our public law barristers practise in other areas of law. This inter-disciplinary experience means that they are expertly placed to deal with public and administrative law cases which often engage wider or related issues and matters which arise in other areas of practice.
Our barristers accept instructions on behalf of both claimants and defendants which includes individuals, companies, charities, non-governmental organisations, government departments, local authorities and other public and quasi-public bodies. They act on behalf of both legally aided and privately paying clients, and they are also happy to consider pro bono instructions in appropriate cases.
