Transparency Regulatory Information

Employment Tribunal:

Members can advise both employees and employers on ordinary unfair dismissal and wrongful dismissal claims, discrimination, wages, breach of contract, restrictive covenants and any other aspect of employment law. We can also represent both employees and employers at the Employment Tribunal.

Timescales:

Timescales for your case may vary depending on factors such as availability, the complexity of your case, the need for additional documents and the other side’s approach. However, as a guide more straightforward cases tend to have a hearing date four to six months of a claim being made.

Fees:

Below we have provided estimates based on the rates typically charged. All fees exclude VAT (where applicable). The actual figure will vary depending on the amount of work involved. Fixed fees, which means that a member will charge you a set amount of money for the work, are ordinarily also available. Fees include preparation.

  • Written advice on your claim £500 – £2,500, approximately 2-5 hours 

Preparation of case, including meetings with you and assistance with drafting of any

  • tribunal documents £500 – £2.500, approximately 2-5 hours
  • Preliminary hearing £1,200 – £4,600, approximately 5-10 hours
  • First day’s tribunal appearance £1,200 – £4,600, approximately 5-10 hours
  • Tribunal appearances per day, after the first day £1,200 – £2,500, approximately 5-7 hours per day
  • Remedy hearing (to decide compensation)           £1.200 – £3,400, approximately 5-7 hours

Financial Disputes in Divorce:

Members can advise you if you and your former partner cannot agree on financial matters during, or after, a divorce. For example, you may not be able to agree on how assets should be divided, whether to sell your home or other assets, maintenance.

If you cannot agree, you can apply to a court for a financial order. You may need to attend a number of court hearings – We may be able to represent you in these hearings.

Timescales:

Timescales for your case may vary depending on factors such as availability, the value and complexity of your assets, whether you have children, how much you have already agreed with your former partner, and their approach. Written advice on your financial dispute will be available within two to four weeks where possible. As a guide, court hearings for a financial order tend to take six to twelve months. This does not include possible appeals.

  • First appointment (first court hearing exchanging financial information) £1000 – £4,500, approximately 5-10 hours
  • Financial dispute resolution appointment (second court hearing to reach a financial settlement) £2,500 – £7,500, approximately 10-20 hours
  • First day of final hearing (if no settlement was reached in the financial dispute resolution appointment) £2,500 – £8,000, approximately 10-22 hours
  • Court appearances per day, after the first day of the final hearing £1,000 – 4,500, approximately 5-10 hours per day

Winding Up Petitions:

Members are available to act in winding up petitions at the advisory stage and at court.

Inheritance Act Advice:

The Inheritance Act 1975 protects spouses (including former spouses), cohabitants, children and other dependants when a person dies without leaving sufficient money for the dependent’s continued wellbeing. We can provide you with written advice on whether you can make a claim under the Ac.t He can also provide you with written advice when a person dies and you are a beneficiary of the estate, but someone else makes a claim under the Act.

Timescales:

Timescales for your written advice may vary depending on factors such availability, the value and complexity of the deceased person’s estate, your financial needs and those of any beneficiary of the estate. However, claims under the Act must be made within six months of the grant of probate, so as a guide your written advice will be available within two to four weeks where possible.

Criminal (Road Traffic) Cases:

Members of chambers undertake road traffic criminal case on a predominantly fixed fee basis.

Timescales:

Timescales may vary depending on factors such availability, the complexity of your case. Once we have received papers, we will be able to advise as to the timeframe for any work to be undertaken.
