Adam Williams

Adam was instructed by Albin & Co Solicitors and Evan Moore Solicitors to represent a defendant with complex needs including Autism. The defendant was alleged to have masturbated in a changing room in front of a child and masturbated on a park bench in front of children in breach of a Court order. After a 6 day trial the defendant was acquitted of masturbating on a park bench but was convicted of masturbating in front of a child in the changing rooms and of breaching a Court order. Due to the defendant's complex needs, Adam was able to argue for a considerably shorter sentence with the Judge sentencing him to 18 months' imprisonment. The Judge commented positively on Adam's impressive handling of the trial and mitigation.

The defendant and his parents (whom supported the defendant each day of the trial) had this to say:-

"We believe that the defendant got excellent representation from Adam. He was very good both in and out of court. His presentation of the defence and examination of the prosecution witnesses achieved considerable clarification of both their original statements and evidence in court when examined by the prosecution and in several cases he got them to change their evidence to defendant's benefit

His examination of the defendant was good and sensitive

In addition he went to great lengths try to ensure that we knew and understood what had happened in court particularly since it was at times difficult to hear everything or understand the complexity of what was going on, and he did this with great sensitivity to our nerves and feelings. We were also aware that he was taking great pains to do the same with the defendant."
