At Luton Crown Court following a 6 day trial Richard Moss, privately instructed by Jane Anderson of Woodfines Solicitors, secured the acquittal of a man in his 50s accused of multiple incident counts of indecent assault of his daughter.

The allegations dated back to 1999 to 2003 and the defendant was accused of having sexually abused his daughter between the ages of 4 and 7 including by digital penetration.

The defendant denied all allegations and asserted that the allegations were fabricated. Vast amounts of unused material had to be considered including phone evidence from Facebook messenger, obtained by a digital forensic analyst instructed by Woodfines, which undermined the way in which the complainant portrayed her relationship with her father from late teens up to her early 20s when the allegation was made. Third party material including social services records were deployed in order to present the jury with a proper understanding of the family dynamic at the time of the allegations.

The jury acquitted the defendant of the multiple incident counts and were hung in relation to two single incident counts. The Crown did not seek a retrial and not guilty verdicts were entered.
