Members of 4KBW’s Media and Information Law Team offer a wide-ranging expertise across the common law, and the statutory and regulatory landscape applicable to media and information law.
In an age of proliferating social media, the publication of information, art and opinion is an increasingly populated area. Today, mainstream publishers and broadcasters compete with individuals who use social media to get their content and message across.
We have extensive practical knowledge of the rights, obligations and remedies available to those wishing to disseminate information and opinions. We are equally adept at assisting those seeking to protect their privacy or reputations.
One member of 4KBW’s media team has been recognised in the 2022 and 2023 editions of the Legal500 as a leading junior in privacy and defamation.
We deal with all matters within the remit of the Media and Communications List, including defamation, misuse of private information, breach of confidence, harassment by publication and data protection cases.
We are experienced at appellate level, but are equally comfortable defending data protection claims in the small claims court, providing pre-publication and broadcast advice to media companies or advocating for open justice and transparency in criminal, employment and other civil or regulatory proceedings.
We have also taken on copyright and intellectual property claims in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court.
