RICHARD MOSS SECURES ACQUITTAL FOR RAPE AND NON-FATAL STRANGULATION

Richard Moss

Richard instructed by Karla Sims of Albin & Co Solicitors represented this defendant in an 8 day trial at Oxford Crown Court. This was a difficult case stemming from an admittedly toxic relationship between two young partners. The defendant had pleaded guilty to offences of controlling and coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship, ABH, assault by beating and common assault. At trial he denied offences of rape, non-fatal strangulation, s.18 GBH (though had pleaded to the alternative of s.20 GBH the issue being what his intent was when he stabbed the victim in the buttocks), perverting the course of justice and further counts of ABH and common assault. Notwithstanding the misconduct admitted by the defendant Richard ensured the jury maintained focus on the evidence on the individual counts resulting in acquittals for rape and non-fatal strangulation.
